Chip Kidd, by Veronique Vienne

Take a look at the first fiction book I ever read for simple pleasure, I remember very vividly the day I picked it up at the book store, back then I had no idea what the book was about, I simply remember that I loved its cover more than anything else and it was the fact that I liked how it looks that I decided to take it home with me and read it. Many years later, I have learned that it was designed by Chip Kidd, an audacious designer who’s work inspires me to think, -and think hard- What follows is a direct quote from the source above listed.

This novel details the inner lives of various members of Del Pino Family, from Cuba to Miami. Carefully choosing an illustration in a vintage Latin style, Kidd heightens the tension by obscuring the lower face of the woman with a bold, red block of color, preparing the reader for intimate glimpses into the thoughts and memories of the predominantly female characters .
