Quite often I wonder how many of us continue to enjoy the way an album is presented, just as much as the music itself. Considering that music helps me visualize ideas, to find music that communicates directly to me has become one way to conduct design research. Therefore, one of my rules is to visit places where I can be exposed to album covers, whether it’s the music section at the local library, a thrift shop or music store. Viewing album covers is quite an adventure in its own right; when I’m surrounded by music albums it’s quite easy for me to lose track of time, many times is not so much because I’m looking for an specific recording but because I’m digesting all the design solutions others before me created to promote music as a product.
